The mission of FIND
The mission of the Fuzeon Initiatives for National Discoveries (FIND) is to improve the care of patients with HIV infection receiving Fuzeon. The results of the FIND-funded research projects will contribute to knowledge within the clinical field of HIV infection both in Australia and internationally.

Roche continue to demonstrate their commitment to HIV research in 2007 with the FIND Awards.
What is the focus of FIND?
Submissions that are successful in receiving funding from FIND are those that have outcomes that will ultimately benefit HIV infected individuals receiving Fuzeon. Therefore, project objectives should have a strong focus on an unmet need. Topics may include clinical, behavioural or basic science research or special projects that will benefit patients receiving Fuzeon.
Who is eligible for FIND?
FIND provides funding for clinical, academic or community workers at clinical sites, Australian universities, research institutes and community outreach projects. Funding is primarily for those projects that have not received any other form of funding.
How much is a FIND award?
Roche endows the FIND scheme with $50,000 to be shared between two successful applicants. Two applicants will each receive grants of $25,000.
What is the structure of the FIND committee?
The grants will be administered by a committee comprising key members of the Australian HIV research community. The FIND committee will include three scientists/clinicians who are recognized for their contributions to the field of HIV research, a representative from the National Association of People living with HIV/AIDS (NAPWA) as well as representation from Roche Australia.
What are the evaluation criteria?
All applications go before the FIND committee and are ranked and reviewed by the members of the panel.
Applications are judged on the following criteria:
· Originality and relevance
· Feasibility of the application – realistic objectives and
achievable outcomes· Scientific excellence
When will the recipients of the awards be announced?
The recipients of these awards will be announced at the ASHM meeting in 22nd July, Sydney (IAS) 2007.
